JONESBORO, Ga. – Benedict swept the 2016 Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) Women's and Men's Tennis Championships Saturday afternoon at the Clayton County International Tennis Complex.

Both teams will represent the SIAC in the upcoming NCAA Division II Playoffs.

Benedict swept the women's doubles with Karla Flores and Esther Zelaya defeating Reicia North and Monica Thomas 8-4 in the top spot. At No. 2 Danielle Rios and Danyelle Copeland used an 8-1 decision to top Kimberly Bowen and Navilla Paul. Juliet Campbell and Adrienne Milow knocked off Taylor Wilson and Kayla Triche 8-2 in the third spot.

Benedict held Tuskegee to just one win in singles after North defeated Flores 6-2, 6-4, and 3-6 in the No. 1 position. The Tigers got their final two wins in singles from Rios with set scores of 5-7, 6-3, and 6-4 over Paul at No. 3 to secure the tournament title. Copeland swept Triche 6-0, 6-0 in the fourth spot.

Benedict swept the top four men's singles with Nathaniel Pinkney topping Everette Reese 6-3, 6-1 in the top spot. Takudswa Muswere defeated Justin Samples 6-2, 6-3 at No. 2 while Quentin Eloise took down Jabez Beazer 6-1. 6-0. Zibusiso Ndimande used 6-2, 6-4 decisions to top Brandon Sanders in the final singles matchup.

Sanders and Philippian Stamps gave Morehouse its only win with an 8-6 victory over Muswere and Ndimande at No. 2 in doubles play. Pinkney and Eloise paired together and took down Samples and Reese 8-5 at No. 1. Juan Hernandez and Justin Payton went the distance with Beazer and Terrell Green but came out with a 9-8, 7-3 win.

Danielle Rios was named the SIAC Women's Tennis Championship MVP and Gary Taylor was selected as the Most Outstanding Coach.
