SAVANNAH, Ga. – The Augusta University men’s golf team put away any doubt of others contending for the 2016 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Championships as they shot an 18-under round of 270 to win the tournament title by 33 strokes at the Crosswinds Golf Club.augusta meacgolf16Augusta University

Bethune-Cookman University was second in the tournament shooting a one-over par 289 on Saturday for a three-day total of three-over par 867.

Robin Petersson captured the Outstanding Performer of the tournament honor as he carded a three-under par 69 on Saturday to finish the tournament at 11-under par 205.  The Jaguars had all five of their participants finish in the top five.   Broc Everett shot the low round of the tournament to leap three spots to second after an eight-under 64 for a three-day 209 total.

Rounding out the top five was Jake Marriott with a 71 on Saturday for a three-day total of 210, Maverick Antcliff moved up six spots to fourth after a final day six-under 66 to end with a 213.  Emmanuel Kountakis finished in a tie for fifth with a 71 on Saturday for an even-par 216 total.

Following Augusta and Bethune in the team standings were Florida A&M (299-305-302-906), Savannah State (307-313-304-924), North Carolina Central (308-306-313-927), Maryland Eastern Shore (318-325-316-959) and Hampton University (336-347-318-1001).

With their second straight MEAC Championship, Augusta University earned a bid to the 2016 NCAA Men’s Golf Championships.  The bids for the tournament will be announced on May 5 at 9:30 a.m. on The Golf Channel.
