Three of the four HBCU Division I Tennis Teams competing in the NCAA Men's and Women's Championship were eliminated on Friday.  The only remaining squad is the men's team from South Carolina State.  The SCSU Bulldogs will meet the Georgie Bulldogs, Saturday afternoon at 1:00pm at the Magill Tennis Complex in Athens, GA.

#4 TCU 4, Jackson State 0

Jackson State wraps up the season with a 6-19 record after capturing the 2016 SWAC Men’s Tennis Championship. TCU advances to 25-3.

TCU picked up the doubles point after Trevor Johnson and Guillermo Nunez defeated Vishu Prasad and Ryan Swanier, 6-0, in the No. 2 doubles match. Cameron Norrie and Edwardo Nava handed Richie Agarwal and Federico Mendieta Rulz, 6-1 in the No. 3 doubles match.

In singles action, #5 Cameron Norrie defeated Camilo Patino, 6-0, 6-1, at No. 1 singles. At no. 3 singles, Jerry Lopez defeated Mendieta Rulz, 6-0, 6-2, while Tray Daniel picked up a 6-2, 6-0 win over Prasad at No. 5 singles.


WOMEN
#11 Auburn 4, Alcorn State 0

AUBURN, Ala.- The No. 11 Auburn Tigers defeated the Alcorn State Braves women’s tennis team 4-0 in the first round of the 2016 NCAA Women’s Tennis Championships on Friday at Yarbrough Tennis Center.ncaa wom tennis 150

Alcorn State finishes the season with a 13-16 record and 6-1 in SWAC action while Auburn advances to 23-7 for the season after putting together a 9-4 SEC record.

Auburn collected the doubles point after #8 duo Pleun Burgmans and Alizee Michaud defeated ASU’s Ekaterina Potapova and Sibohan Ryan-Bovey, 6-0, at the No. 1 doubles match. AU’s Alannah Griffin and Andie Dikosavljevic handed Aida Kelic and Ivana Boberic a 6-0 loss at the No. 2 doubles match.

In singles action, #70 Burgmans defeated Ryan-Bovey, 6-3, 6-0, in the No. 3 match. AU’s Alannah Griffin defeated Potapova, 6-1, 6-2 at the No. 4 match while Caroline Turner defeated Marlene Maier, 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 6 match.


#1 Florida 4, S.C. State 0
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The No.1-ranked University of Florida women's tennis team defeated the South Carolina State Lady Bulldogs 4-0 on Friday afternoon in the NCAA Tennis First Round at UF's Linder Stadium.
 
South Carolina State closes out the season 8-11 overall. Florida is 7-0 versus the Lady Bulldogs in school history.
