Hampton University's Francena McCrory and Livingstone College's Quanera Hayes missed directly qualifying for the U.S. Olympic team in the women's 400m finals at the U.S. Olympic Trials at Haywood Field in Eugene, OR.

St. Augustine's alum Barbara Pierre also came up short in the women's 100m finishing seventh in 11.10 seconds. Only the top three finishers directly qualify for the team.usatf logo

McCrory finished fifth (50.37) and Hayes eighth (51.80) in the 400m event won by Allyson Felix (49.68). 

McCrory could still be selected for the team after earning a gold medal in the 4X400m relay four years ago in London.

Hayes, a former three-time NCAA Division II champion could still make the team by qualifying in the 200m which begins Friday.

The Olympics will be held August 5-21 in Rio de Janeiro.
