ATLANTA - The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference has issued a statement regarding the incident between Albany State University and Tuskegee University's cheer and dance teams. The incident occurred Tuesday evening during halftime of the Albany State-Tuskegee men's first round match-up of the SIAC Basketball Tournament.
“The obligation to observe basic principles of sportsmanship and fair play extends to all participants at the SIAC basketball tournament. As a consequence of the incident on Tuesday, the cheerleading and dance teams from both Albany State University and Tuskegee University will not be permitted to participate in our tournament for the remainder of the week.”
Both member institutions are in process of sending their respective squads back to campus.
