ARLINGTON, Texas – Prairie View A&M University was named the 2015 SWAC Bowling Champion Sunday afternoon at the International Training and Research Center.
This marks PVAMU’s third time in history winning the title. With a 2015 regular season record of 18-6, the Panthers grabbed a second place standing.

Prairie View A&M (214, 205, 156, 180, 263, 177, 222) started the day winning set one with a total pinfall of 214 to 166. The Panthers bowled five strikes, while Texas Southern ( 166, 174, 165, 188, 154, 221, 193) gathered two. PVAMU continued its drive as it collected the second victory of the day, 205 to 174. TSU battled back in the third game, pulling ahead in the sixth frame with a count difference of 22 – going on to earn its first win of the day, 165 to 156.
The score remained close in the next set as both teams bowled four strikes. Texas Southern remained persistent, using a spare in the last frame to land a victory. But in the fifth game, the Panthers submitted strikes in all frames except the eighth, gaining another win. Their total pinfall of 263 was the highest out of all games during the three-day tournament, leaving the round 3-2. Seven strikes in the sixth from the Tigers created a tie between the two teams, 3-3, forcing a seventh game.
In the final frame of the round, Prairie View performed the best supplying a 222 pinfall count and a 4-3 record.
