CHESAPEAKE, Va., – The University of Maryland Eastern Shore Lady Hawks rallied from a 3-0 deficit to edge Norfolk State University, 4-3, on Sunday afternoon to win the 2015 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Bowling Championship title at the AMF Lanes in Chesapeake, Virginia.meac bwl logo

The Lady Hawks captured their third straight MEAC tournament title and eighth overall. Maryland Eastern Shore fell behind 225-210, 173-153, 180-177, but battled back with 189-182, 167-156, 182-167 and 178-170 wins to grab the victory in Baker play.

Maryland Eastern Shore junior Thashiana Seraus earned Outstanding Tournament Performer honors. Seraus registered a 200.0 average pinfall during team games on Friday.

Head Coach Kayla Bandy of Maryland Eastern Shore was named Outstanding Coach for the second time in her career.

“We went down 3-0, and I looked at our assistant coach, Bret Cunningham, and told him we need to refocus,” Bandy said. “We had to regroup and release some tension and tightness. Once we started to do that, everything else fell right into place.”

Joining Seraus on the All-Tournament Team was teammate Tatiana Munoz. Courtney Williford and Dililah Bethel of Norfolk State and Chelsey Merklinger of Delaware State complete the team.

The MEAC Bowling championship finale will air in a tape-delayed format on Monday, March 30 at 9:00 p.m. on ESPNU.
