ELIZABETH CITY, N.C- The Elizabeth City State University Department of Athletics has announced the hiring of Shalyn Moore as Sports Information Director.shalyn moore

Moore comes to ECSU after spending the past several years in a variety of communications roles.

Most recently, Moore served as a Student-Athlete Academic Success Coachat Christopher Newport University..

Moore also worked as a Marketing Coordinator for the Boo Williams Sportsplex. She pioneered partnership efforts with Eastbay, Champs, Buffalo Wild Wings, Chick Fil A, and other local businesses during her time there.

During the 2018-2019 National Football League season she worked as game day staff with the Washington Redskins public relations team.

She is no stranger to the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association; Moore has worked with the conference media relations staff for special events since her sophomore year of college as an intern until now. The CIAA is truly home for her. As a college student, she served as the Sports Information Graduate Assistant at Virginia State University. Moore was also the graduate assistant to the department chair of the mass communications program. As a graduate student she produced, wrote, directed, and hosted her own sports show entitled Moore Than A Scoreboard as a treatment for her thesis.

Moore interned with the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference basketball tournament for several years and spent a year in their post-graduate intern position under media relations. She also participated in the MiLB/MLB Winter December Meetings program for three consecutive years during her undergraduate and graduate studies representing her alma mater in Orlando, Fl, San Diego, CA, and Nashville, TN.

A native of Hampton, VA, she received her bachelor's degree in Mass Communications from Virginia State University in 2015 and earned a master's degree in Media Management also from Virginia State University in 2017. Moore is currently pursuing her doctoral degree in Philosophy of Communication with a focus on digital and strategic communications from Liberty University.
