Texas Southern; FAMU Begin NCAA Baseball Title Quest

ncaa bseballSWAC champion Texas Southern and MEAC champ Florida A&M both learned their opponent in the first round of the NCAA Baseball Tournament today.  TSU will head to College Station to face Super Regional host Texas A&M.  FAMU, making its’ first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance, will travel to Gainesville to face Florida.  Both games are scheduled for Friday, May 29 with the first pitch at 7:00pm local time.

This will be TSU's first trip to the regionals since 2008 and the third visit in program history.  The Tigers received an automatic bid after knocking off Southern to win the SWAC title.

FAMU secured an automatic bid by defeating Bethune-Cookman 8-2 in the Championship Game of the MEAC Tournament on May 16. The MEAC Championship was the first for FAMU since 1994 and seventh in program history.
