HUNTSVILLE, Ala. | The Stillman Tigers' storybook season came to a close on Sunday night with an 81-71 loss to the University of Alabama-Huntsville in the semifinals of the NCAA Men's South Region tournament. The loss snapped an 18-game winning streak for the Tigers.
Missed free throws plagued Stillman (27-6) early as the Tigers missed eight in the first half. They would finish the game 15-for-30 (50%).
Senior guard Rodnerius Lewis, who was named First Team All-Region on Sunday, finished the game with 14 points. Ronald Singleton had a team-high nine rebounds to go along with seven points. Stanley Magee added 13 points for Stillman.
UAH (25-7) was led in scoring by Greg Gardner who finished with 23 points.
The loss brings an end to one of the best seasons in school history. With a 27-6 record, SIAC Player of the Year, SIAC Newcomer of the Year, SIAC Coach of the Year, and SIAC Tournament Champions, this Tigers team is the most decorated in Stillman history.
Stillman will graduate six seniors this offseason. However, Coach Jackson has built a deep squad that will return seven letterman and two upperclassmen who took redshirts this season.
