HOUSTON– Dr. Cavil’s 2015-2016 HBCU Major Division and Mid-Major Division Women’s and Men’s Basketball All-American Teams are here. The list is a composite of the top players in the Major Division from the NCAA Division I MEAC, SWAC, and Tennessee State of the OVC and the top players in the Mid-Major Division from the NCAA Division II (CIAA, SIAC, and Independent programs as well as NAIA GCAC, HBCU programs of the RRAC). It was announced and discussed over the radio by Charles Bishop and Mike Washington after Dr. J. Kenyatta Cavil called in before the Women’s NCAA Division I National Championship Game from Indianapolis, Indiana the site of the 2016 NCAA® Women’s Final Four®.
The Women’s Major Division first and second teams features six seniors, including the Women’s Major Division Player of the Year, Norianna Haynes of Alcorn State. The Men’s Major Division team features an R-Freshman, whom is a two sport star, Derrick Griffin from Texas Southern as the Men’s Major Division Player of the Year. The Men’s Major Division first and second teams includes seven seniors and graduate student. The Women’s Mid-Major Division team featured, Kiana Johnson of the Virginia Union as the Mid-Major Player of the Year along with seven other seniors. Finally the Men’s Mid-Major Division featured only four seniors. The Men’s Mid-Major Division Player of the Year featured a junior, Jordan Washington.
