WINSTON-SALEM, NC - After one of the most exciting women's basketball seasons in recent history, there is plenty of reason to expect more as the contract for Winston-Salem State University women's basketball head coach L'Tona Lamonte has been extended. The extension comes after she led the team to a steady climb to becoming one of the most exciting teams in the southeast.wssu ltona lamont

For the past four seasons, Lamonte has led the program to some steady improvements. In her four seasons, the team had finished in to top four of the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Southern Division in each season. Last season, Lamonte led the team to a new height when they returned to the semifinal round of the CIAA Women's Basketball Championship Tournament for the first time since 2005. The Rams have also had a number of players to earn individual honors during Lamonte's tenure, including the 2019 CIAA Rookie of the Year, four All-CIAA selections and two CIAA All-Rookie Team selections.
