The 6-5, 315 pound product from Selma, AL played every offensive line position except center during four seasons at Tennessee State, appearing in 41 games over four seasons. Last year he started in all 12 contests for the TSU.

Simmons is the first Tiger to be selected in the NFL draft since 2015 when Robert Morris (176, Baltimore) and Robert Morris (218, Oakland) were picked.
Tennessee State has now had 24 offensive linemen taken in the draft. The Selma, Ala. native becomes the 122nd player selected in school history, which is second-most all-time among FCS schools.
